In 1999, American verse playwright Kirk Wood Bromley sat down to write what would be considered one of his most ambitious and dazzling plays about... US… the United States. We the People, regardless of where we may be from. 

THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION as I see it, is about the idea of liberty at its core level and those responsible for leading the charge who made it possible for the idea of liberty - particularly from tyrants - to become a reality. Never before had this occurred in human history and it was as daring and dangerous as could be – and was as much a civil war as it was a war against the British Empire. The split between loyalty to the crown and the desire for freedom was right down the middle. 

Who could have ever imagined we would find ourselves - 250 years later - in a similar state as a nation? That we would be split, again, right down the middle, and would have to deal with a similar tyranny in our own backyard? 

Bromley’s epic & prophetic play serves as a powerful reminder not to allow the memory of those who sacrificed themselves throughout our nation’s history to be forgotten.
